Alzheimer's Disease
As we age, brain changes often result in mild memory concerns. There are, however, some cognitive changes that are not part of the normal aging process. Early signs that memory loss may actually be the onset of Alzheimer's Disease include trouble with names, repeating words, short-term memory loss and agitation. Early evaluation and treatment may help prolong memory and improve the long-term quality of life.
Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that destroys nerve cells (neurons) in the brain. As these neurons are destroyed, it results in memory loss and other problems with thinking and behavior. The disease gets worse over time, and is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.
